A Goodbye and a Hello
In August The Reef will be sorry to say goodbye to our Head Chef, Nathan Emerson, who is moving to Nambuca heads with his family for some well earned rest and quiet time. Nathan has been with the restaurant for 5 years and has seen many changes in his stay with us. He has had many high points, one of which was cooking for Mr Tony Bilson late last year. When asked what he would miss the most Nathan replied with three things. “Firstly I will miss the awesome team of people I work with, from management, chefs and floor staff. We spend so much time together, sometimes more than our own families. Secondly having the ability to use some of the freshest market produce for the menu, and of course the view, I can honestly say I have had one of the best office views in Australia”
In the mean time Sous Chef Benson Sweeney will be taking up the challenge, Benson is well know for his unique specials and home made ice creams. Look out for a new menu in September.

2nd Hatters Tea Party was Mad!
June 12th saw the Reef go crazy with our second annual Mad Hatters Tea Party. There was a capacity turnout and we are very pleased to say that the majority of our guests chose to dress up or wear a mad hat! The Reef’s very own Mad Hatter was there to give out prizes to the best costume, (a cat) best hat (seagull eating a cup of chips) and the best cup cake design (one of which even included some rocket salad from the high tea!)
Several local businesses were on hand to ensure the success of the day:
Sweetest Things provided the cup cakes and demostration.
Melli provided make up tips and mini facials.
Dymocks Erina sold Alice in Wonderland books.
Total Bodyworks proved to be very popular with mini stress relief back massages.
Local girl “Charlie” entertained through out the day.
Lots of fun, eating and drinking were the order of the day, with many people looking forward to next year’s party!

Reef Wins Award
At a recent industry awards night, we were proud to be awarded the best contemporary restaurant for the Central Coast for 2010. Each year restaurants around Australia are judged by the Restaurant & Catering association in various categories with the top achievers invited to an industry awards night where the overall winner is announced for each category. We overcame some tough competition, with each restaurant being judged on quality of food & service, menu construction, value for money and overall ambience.
